The Fast Food Review

Updated: June 7, 2002
On this page, I will give my own personal opinion of most of the fast food that I have ever had.  Your opinion most likely will differ from mine, so please keep that in mind.  My opinion is based on all food being prepared the way it is supposed to.  We all know that you won't get a perfect order at every place you go.
All products will be ranked on a "star" system, with one * being worst and five * * * * * being the best.  Specialty sandwiches and "limited time offer" sandwiches are not listed, unless deemed special by me.  If it's not listed, I never had it.

So without further adieu, let's start with...

McDonald's
Big Mac - with the famous "two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun", it's an American original.  To me, what makes or breaks it is the lettuce.  If the lettuce isn't perfect, it throws the taste off.
* * * * (4)
Quarter Pounder with Cheese - it's a lot of meat.  You will find the onions to be a little bigger than what they put on their other sandwiches.
* * * * (4)
Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese - it's a whole lot more meat.  Other than that, it's the same as the regular QPC.  But more meat makes a difference.
* * * * * (5)
Big Xtra - a clone of the Whopper from Burger King.  You can read what I think about that later.  I don't know why they even bothered with this.  NOTE: This is now referred to as the "Big 'N Tasty".
* * (2)
Cheeseburger - it's as simple as it gets.  Well worth the money.
* * * * (4)
Hamburger - picture a cheeseburger without the cheese.  If you don't like cheese, this is the sandwich for you.  If you did like cheese, you would have ordered the cheeseburger.
* * * * (4)
Crispy Chicken - they once had a McChicken.  I loved it.  The only difference is that they put a tomato on this.
* * * (3)
McChicken - Yes, the classic McChicken is back!  Juicy chicken fillet with lettuce and mayo... absolutely perfect, and a bargain at $1.00!
* * * * * (5)
Grilled Chicken - I hate grilled chicken.  Reminds me of chewing on a rubber band.
* (1)
Chicken McNuggets - they are so good, I once didn't realize that I ate 29 of them in one sitting.  Highly recommended.
* * * * (4)
Filet-O-Fish - an excellent fish sandwich.  Very simple.
* * * * (4)
French Fries - as Jim Spicer and Kelly Dutill would say, the Super Size fries could feed a third world country.  My personal favorite.
* * * * * (5)
Burger King
Whopper - their bread and butter sandwich.  For some reason, BK burgers don't agree with me.  Not bad, if you're in to that sort of thing.
* * * (3)
Double Whopper - same sandwich, add another piece of meat.  It doesn't make it any better, or worse.
* * * (3)
Whopper Jr. - same sandwich, only smaller.  It's their regular hamburger with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.
* * * (3)
Big King - do they even still make this?  It's their Big Mac clone, much like McDonald's Big Xtra.  Actually, it's probably their best burger.
* * * * (4)
Cheeseburger - flame broiled, seeded rolled version of McDonald's cheeseburger.  Good basic burger.
* * * (3)
Hamburger - see above.
* * * (3)
Bacon Double Cheeseburger - I never put bacon on burgers, but if it's your bag, this is a good thing to eat.
* * * (3)
Chicken Sandwich - their chicken sandwiches are on a longer roll than usual.  Always well put together.
* * * * (4)
Italian Chicken - the best thing on the menu.  'Nuff said.
* * * * * (5)
American Chicken - put a tomato on the regular chicken... there ya go.
* * * (3) (-1 for the tomato)
French Chicken - ham and swiss with chicken.  Good stuff.
* * * * (4)
Grilled Chicken - see McDonald's.
* (1)
Big Fish - it's a huge fish sandwich.  Very well done.  It's worth the extra money for the cheese.
* * * * (4)
Chicken Tenders - not too bad... could be better.
* * * (3)
Onion Rings - excellent, because I hate their fries.
* * * * (4)
French Fries - who in the hell actually voted for them to be #1 in the taste test?
* * (2)
KFC
Original Recipe - 11 herbs and spices... it has stood the test of time.
* * * * * (5)
Extra Crispy - not a big fan... feels like I'm eating nothing but skin.
* * * (3)
Rotisserie - I don't think it exists anymore.  Didn't like it anyway.
* (1)
Tender Roast - not a fan.
* (1)
Chicken Strips - extra crispy, no bones.  I'll pass.
* * (2)
Honey BBQ Wings - they sure can hit the spot, but I have to be in the mood for them.
* * * * * (5)
Hot Wings - they're pretty much the same.  Not as good as the Honey BBQ though.
* * * * (4)
Honey BBQ Sandwich - excellent sandwich.  I love it.
* * * * * (5)
Original Recipe Sandwich - pretty good as well.
* * * * * (5)
Potato Wedges - good stuff.
* * * * (4)
Macaroni and Cheese - they do it so well.  Very cheesy.
* * * * (4)
Mashed Potatoes - I'm not a fan of gravy, so I try my best to get it without.  But if I have to have gravy, it only gets
* * * (3)
Biscuits - top notch.
* * * * * (5)
Cornbread - just as good, if not better.
* * * * * (5)
Corn On The Cob - excellent stuff.  Great flavor, great aroma.
* * * * * (5)
Chick-Fil-A
Chicken Sandwich - brilliant sandwich with those two little pickles.  It's amazing how something so simple can make such a big difference.
* * * * * (5)
Chicken Strips - very well done.  Juicy and delicious.
* * * * * (5)
Chicken Nuggets - same as the Strips.
* * * * * (5)
French Fries - waffle cut Fries, they go great with their Polynesian Sauce.
* * * * * (5) (-1 if you don't use the Polynesian Sauce)
Wendy's
Triple Cheeseburger - After not being a fan, the triple (and double) cheeseburger really grew on me.
* * * * (4)
Chicken Fillet Sandwich - their Chicken Sandwich isn't too bad, though.  Lettuce can use some improvement.
* * * (3)
Spicy Chicken Sandwich - if you like hot sandwiches, this thing is for you!
* * * * (4)
French Fries - The taste and value of the Biggie Fries is hard to beat.
* * * * * (5)
Baked Potato - The sour cream and chives baked potato is a great tasting value at $0.99.
* * * * * (5)
Taco Bell
Hard Taco - the classic.  Good, cheap.  The way to go.
* * * * * (5)
Soft Taco - just as good.  Works for me.
* * * * * (5)
Mexican Pizza - originally, I wasn't a fan of trying something new there.  But the Captain got me hooked.  So dedicated to the Captain,
* * * * * (5)
Nachos - I'm referring to the simple plain nachos.  Bag of nachos and a cup of processed cheese.  Good stuff.
* * * * (4)
Cinnamon Twists - I love these things!  I could eat twelve bags of these things.
* * * * * (5)
Arby's
Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich - perhaps the finest chicken sandwich aroound.  An incredible combination of chicken, ham, cheese, and mayonaisse.  Top quality.
* * * * * (5)
Big Montana - I think this is the name of their huge roast beef sandwich.  Normally, I'm not a big roast beef guy, but this thing was great.
* * * * (4)
Chicken Fillet Sandwich - standard bread and butter chicken sandwich.  Nothing to write home about, except that their fillets are juicier and more flavorful than the rest.
* * * * (4)
Curly Fries - they make excellent curly fries.  Some of the best around.
* * * * (4)
Homestyle Fries - these are their other fries.  Good stuff, but not as good as the Curly Fries.
* * * (3)
Pizza Hut
Pan Pizza - yet another product where I think they'd be better off hooking up an IV with grease and sticking it in my arm.  I don't know how so many people can like this thing.
* * (2)
Thin Crust Pizza - excellent pizza.  Better than most of their other stuff.
* * * * * (5)
Stuffed Crust Pizza - now here's another grease ball.  But for some reason, I love this thing.  I get it as much as possible.
* * * * * (5)
Breadsticks - ah, tradition.  A trip to Pizza Hut is not complete without an order of these.  Worth the trip.
* * * * * (5)
Cinnamon Breadsticks - I don't know if they are available all the time, but they're good.
* * * * (4)
Boston Market
Chicken Carver - I like to get it with no tomato, on a honey wheat roll.  Excellent stuff.
* * * * * (5)
Macaroni and Cheese - I believe their Mac and Cheese is the best around.  I don't think I could make it any better.
* * * * * (5)
Stuffing - their Stuffing is top notch.  As long as it isn't too wet from all the steam, it's great.
* * * * (4)
Corn - OK, so you're wondering how you could possibly screw up Corn.  It's simple.  If it tastes frozen, I don't like it.  Luckilly, it doesn't, in their case.
* * * * (4)
Corn Bread - it's great tasting stuff.
* * * * (4)
Hardee's
Monster Burger - just as the title says.  This thing is a monster.  Top notch burger from a place not a lot of people have been to, let alone heard of.
* * * * (4)
Chicken Fillet - standard chicken sandwich once again.  Honestly, it takes a lot to screw one of these up.
* * * * (4)
Fisherman's Fillet - one of the best fish sandwiches I have ever had.
* * * * (4)
Crispy Curls - great fry-like concoction.  That's all I have to say about that.
* * * * * (5)
French Fries - decent fries.  Very good, actually.
* * * * (4)
TGI Friday's
Three For All - perfect combination appetizer of Potato Skins, Mozzarella Sticks, and Buffalo Wings.  For some, it's enough to be their whole meal.
* * * * * (5)
Cajun Chicken Fingers - it's their bread and butter chicken strips with a kick to them.  Well prepared.
* * * * * (5)
Pepperoni Pizzadilla - I have to admit, I really have to be in the mood for this.  It's the thought that counts, but this is lacking.  Sadly, it's not even on the menu anymore.
* * * (3)
Onion Rings - these things are huge!  They tend to fall apart real easy, though.
* * * (3)
Saturday Burger - 1/2 pound burger with cheese and Canadian Bacon.  A good choice.  Make sure you get a Yuengling Lager to wash it down.
* * * * * (5)
Name Your Own Burger - they let you pick four ingredients to add.  Well worth it, because it's sometimes cheaper than getting one of their burgers.
* * * * * (5)
Hooters
Hot Buffalo Wings - I am specifically mentioning the Hot wings because they are the only kind I get.  They are the real reason why I like to go there.  I swear.  The best wings around.
* * * * * (5)
Grilled Cheese - OK, now how in the world would I know about a Grilled Cheese sandwich?  Simple.  I saw it on the menu, and wanted to try.  Top notch.
* * * * * (5)
Buffalo Shrimp - great appetizer.  Nice flavor.
* * * * (4)
Curly Fries - add some cheese and salt, you're good to go.
* * * * * (5)
Lone Star
20 oz. T-Bone Steak - the best steak on the menu.  Top notch stuff here...
* * * * * (5)
Amarillo Cheese Fries - big ol' steak fries topped with cheese and bacon.  Excellent appetizer.
* * * * * (5)
Texas Tumbleweed - one of those onion things.  Very hot and spicy sauce with it.
* * * * * (5)
Nifty Fifty's
Double Cheeseburger - this place gets rave reviews strictly for their good food and cheap prices.
* * * * * (5)
Spicy Chicken Nuggets - their nuggets are big ol' chunks of chicken.  Very spicy, but they have them plain if you can't take the heat.
* * * * * (5)
Pistol Pete's Spicy Fries with Cheese - great fries, lots of cheese and Old Bay.
* * * * * (5)
I will not review their shakes since the Reese's Cup is the only one I have had, and I am partial to it.
Popeye's
Chicken Sandwich - Truthfully, it's the same old chicken sandwich.  But if you haven't noticed by now, I like chicken sandwiches, as long as they're not grilled.
* * * * * (5)
Mild Chicken - They have both spicy and mild pieces of chicken, shoot for the mild though.  I like spicy food, but the spicy chicken is just too hard.
* * * * (4)
Chicken Strips - I think these run both spicy and mild as well.  Once again, mild is the way to go.
* * * * (4)
French Fries - Their fries are pretty decent.
* * * * (4)
The Cafe At Clemens
Fried Chicken - The item I'm most likely to order.  If it's fresh, it's damn good.
* * * * * (5)
Chicken Cheese Steak - Since I have connections, they usually hook me up pretty good on the chicken.  Throw some fried onions on there, and you're good to go.
* * * * * (5)
Chicken Fillet Sandwich - I'm not going to answer this.
* * * * * (5)
Fish Fillet Sandwich - Not too bad, I must say.
* * * * (4)
French Fries - They come in curly, regular, and potato wedge style.  The down side is that they get soggy real quick.
* * * (3)
Onion Rings - Now on the other hand, the onion rings are always tasty.
* * * * * (5)
Pizza - If you can catch it right when they make it, it's usually great.  If not, it gets reheated, and it loses a little something.
* * * * * (5 if fresh, -1 if not)
The Bagel Cafe (dedicated to Heather Feracco)
Ham, Egg and Cheese - My personal favorite, there's nothing like warm ham on a toasted bagel with melted cheese and eggs.
* * * * * (5)
Bagel with Cream Cheese - I am a fan of Plain and Cinammon Raisin Bagels.  Toast them up and throw some cream cheese on there, and I'm all set.  Did I mention that all of their bagels are freshly made?
